The upcoming 2017 assembly election to Shahabad is poised for triangular contest among the BJP, SP and BSP. In 2014, the BJP candidate from Hardoi Lok Sabha constituency, Anshul Verma, had secured a lead of 7680 votes over his nearest BSP rival Shiv Prasad Verma in the Shahabad assembly segment.
